'Triangle Of Sadness' Trailer: Ruben Ostlund's Palme d'Or-Winning Black Comedy Arrives In October

Mere weeks after winning the Palme d’Or at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival for “The Square,” Swedish auteur Ruben Östlund announced his next project, “Triangle Of Sadness,” and five years later, it won Östlund his second Palme d’Or at Cannes; an exclusive club that puts him in the company of only six other filmmakers in the world. “Triangle Of Sadness” satirizes the elitist world of fashion and completes something of an accidental thematic trilogy, alongside 2014s “Force Majeure” and the aforementioned “The Square” (read our ‘Triangle of Sadness’ review here). Set in the world of world fashion – a satire in which a pair of models find themselves at a crossroads in their careers. Fashion model couple Carl and Yaya are invited on a luxury cruise. When the yacht sinks they become stranded on a desert island with a group of billionaires and a cleaning lady. In the fight for survival, old hierarchies are turned upside down since the cleaning lady is the only one who knows how to fish.

Joining Harrelson and Dickinson in “Triangle Of Sadness” is a multinational cast including South African Charlbi Dean and Croatian actor Zlatko Burić, the latter best known for his appearances in Nicolas Winding Refn’s “Pusher” trilogy. Iris Berben, Sunnyi Melles, Henrik Dorsin, Dolly De Leon, Vicki Berlin, Oliver Ford Davies, and Arvin Kananian complete the cast. “Triangle Of Sadness” is due in North American theaters on October 7.
