Universal Pulls A 'Bait And Switch' For Mark Wahlberg

Universal Pictures seem to have found a new BFF in Mark Wahlberg. The actor/producer currently has two films in the work for the studio — the action/thriller “Contraband” and the comedy “Ted” — and they have now picked up another vehicle to be developed for the star.

Matthew J. O’Neill has sold his spec script “Bait and Switch” to the studio and well, that’s about all we can tell you right now. It’s an action-comedy movie but the writer appears to be somewhat fresh, with no IMDB presence and story details are being kept under lock and key. Wahlberg will produce along with Scott Stuber, John Jacobs and Stephen Levinson with Zac Unterman executive producing.

Wahlberg came off a busy 2010 with appearances in “Date Night,” “The Other Guys” and of course, the Oscar-nominated “The Fighter.” This year he’ll be buckling down and getting some films in the can with “Contraband” scheduled to land on March 16, 2012 and “Ted” to follow on July 13, 2012. [Variety]
