Billy Magnussen, leading man? It’s a development for the actor’s career that should’ve happened years ago. Best known for supporting roles in the likes of “Road House,” “Aladdin,” “Ingrid Goes West,” and more, Magnussen has never really had the chance to take center stage in a film. That is, until now, with “Violent Ends.”

Magnussen stars in the crime drama as a man whose peaceful life with his fiancée gets upended when his cousin commits armed robbery, thrusting him back into his family’s criminal past. Read on for an official synopsis, courtesy of IFC Films:
Set in the Ozark Mountains, Lucas Frost is an honest man brought up in a crime family whose only legacy is violence. As Lucas tries to make a peaceful life of his own with his fiancée, Emma, he is suddenly pulled back into the family business when his cousin, Eli, perpetrates an armed robbery with brutal consequences.
Along with Magnussen, “Violent Ends” also stars James Badge Dale, Kate Burton, Ray McKinnon, Nick Stahl, and Alexandra Shipp.
John-Michael Powell writes and directs “Violent Ends,” his first film since 2022’s “The Send-Off.” Undine Buka and Vincent Sieber serve as producers.
