Watch: Bradley Cooper Is A Bad Boy Chef In The First Trailer For 'Burnt'

BurntWith the advent of gourmand culture, chefs reaching deity status, hipster pop-up restaurants, and epicurean networks challenging networks in ratings, Hollywood has yet to really tap into foodie zeitgeist. Sure, it’s tried; Catherine Zeta Jones in “No Reservations,” Jon Favreau’s “Chef,” “Julie and Julia,” even David Fincher was toying with the idea of making a film set in the food/chef milieu, but there hasn’t really been a movie that’s captured our modern food phenomenon exactly (though good ones about different eras include “Big Night” and “Like Water For Chocolate” to name just a few). The next in line to try is the not quite inventively titled “Burnt.” Starring four-time Academy Award nominee Bradley Cooper in the lead role (bet you never thought you’d hear that phrase), “Burnt” centers on a former bad boy chef trying to make good and assemble the Avengers of cooking in an attempt to create the best restaurant ever. Here’s the official synopsis:

Chef Adam Jones (Bradley Cooper) had it all – and lost it. A two-star Michelin rockstar with the bad habits to match, the former enfant terrible of the Paris restaurant scene did everything different every time out, and only ever cared about the thrill of creating explosions of taste. To land his own kitchen and that third elusive Michelin star though, he’ll need the best of the best on his side, including the beautiful Helene (Sienna Miller). BURNT is a remarkably funny and emotional story about the love of food, the love between two people, and the power of second chances.

Directed by “Company Man” helmer John Wells (though Derek Cianfrance was once tempted, probably due to his relationship with Cooper on “Place Beyond The Pines”), the film also stars Sienna Miller (who also starred opposite Cooper in “American Sniper” and seems to be on the comeback trail), Emma Thompson, Daniel Brühl, Jamie Dornan (“Fifty Shades of Grey”), Alicia Vikander (“Ex Machina”), Uma Thurman and rising star Lily James (“Cinderella,” “Downton Abbey”).

"Burnt" is set to hit the big screen on October 23rd via the Weinstein Company, so expect a big push from Harvey around that time now that Cooper has become a bonafide star. The first trailer has arrived and you can check it out below.
