After a couple of early failures from the new CBS Films division (“Extraordinary Measures,” “The Back-Up Plan”) and one film bumped to next year (“Beastly”), the studio is hoping that the upcoming action film “Faster” starring Dwayne Johnson, Billy Bob Thornton, Maggie Grace, Moon Bloodgood and Carla Gugino will provide them with a much needed hit.
The first teaser for the film has landed and, well, it looks like yet another generic entry from CBS Films. A fast car, some menacing stares, sun baked stretches of road and a big gun; haven’t we seen this movie about fifteen times already? The film centers around an ex-con (Johnson) who is out to avenge his brother’s death while being hunted by a cop and a hitman. Could be interesting, we suppose, but everything in the teaser plays as fairly tepid run through standard genre material.
“Faster” opens on November 24, 2010. Happy Thanksgiving.
