Watch: First 3 Clips From Venice Prize-Winner 'Hungry Hearts' Starring Adam Driver

Hungry Hearts, Adam Driver
There’s a certain inevitability about film festival awards: no matter how much ground you cover while there, you’re almost guaranteed to end up missing one of the films that takes the top prize. And so it was with the Venice Film Festival: though our roving correspondent saw (and adored)  Golden and Silver Lion winners "A Pigeon Sat On A Branch Reflecting Existence" and "The Postman’s White Nights," schedule clashes meant that she wasn’t able to make it to Saverio Costanzo‘s "Hungry Hearts," the U.S/Italian drama that not only won Alba Rohrwacher the Best Actress prize at the festival, but also Best Actor for "Girls" and "Star Wars Episode VII" actor Adam Driver.

We’re hoping to catch up with the film at the Toronto International Film Festival in the next few days (Driver is cleaning up at TIFF, also winning raves for his turns in "While We’re Young" and "This Is Where I Leave You"), but in the meantime, you can get your first look at the film thanks to the three clips below.

The film follows the romance between Driver’s Jude and Rohrwacher’s Mina, who marry and have a child in New York, only to clash over parenting. The brief snippets demonstrate that we’re a long way from "Kramer Vs. Kramer": this is a dark, gothic picture closer to psychological horror than anything else. We’ve heard little but good things about the picture, so stay tuned for our full verdict in the next few days, but in the meantime, you can see what won Rohrwacher and Driver their prizes in the clips below, and hopefully the movie will be getting U.S. distribution shortly.
