With "Twilight" coming to an end this week (NOOOO!), your mom and sister will have more options just around the corner for supernatural tween romances. At Warner Bros., they're hoping "Beautiful Creatures" will fill that void, while Open Road is banking on Stephenie Meyer once again with "The Host." And the first full length trailer for the movie promises the same old stuff in brand new packaging.
Saoirse Ronan leads the future-set film, playing a normal human teenager whose body gets taken over by a powerful alien force that has taken over the Earth, erasing the memories of everyone on the planet. The twist? EMOTIONZ. Turns out human beings have feelings and aliens totally can't handle that. Will love save the day? Probably. This looks as mediocre as expected, even as much as we love Ronan and Diane Kruger. And once again, it looks like the special effects budget was paltry. Andrew Niccol directs, further squandering whatever goodwill he's had left since "Gattaca."
"The Host" opens on March 29, 2013. Full trailer below, and in case you're wondering, the song is "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons.
