From the mind of Daniel Johns, comes a new semi-autobiographical, but also sci-fi short film, “What If The Future Never Happened?” The Australian musician is most known for his years spent as the former frontman, guitarist, and lead songwriter of the rock band, Silverchair. Johns released his first solo album Talk in 2015, with his second album FutureNever recently released earlier this year.
“What If The Future Never Happened?” will be soundtracked by Johns, who’s not only a Grammy winner but an Emmy, ARIA and APRA-winning composer.
Johns spoke briefly about the short and what it meant to him, “The FutureNever era for me is about defying convention and making ambitious art across all mediums. It’s at once the most honest and most fantastical thing I’ve ever done. I can’t wait for people to see it, but until then I hope the trailer gets people excited- it’s a hell of a trip.”
The short is directed by James Medlam, known for the short films “Serial” and “Cherish.” Written by Heath George and James Medlam, the story will be based on the life of Daniel Johns.

Rasmus King will take on the leading role of Daniel. King will be starring in the 2022 film, “Bosch & Rockit.” Here’s the full cast: Rasmus King, Autumn Fawn, Lockie Ranson, Kobi Williams, Quinlan Deakin, Charlie Farmer, Christian Morison, Christopher Jarret, and Daniel Johns.
“What If The Future Never Happened?” will be coming to theaters in 2022.
