‘Yesterday’ Actress Sophia Di Martino To Co-Star In Disney+ ‘Loki’ Series With Tom Hiddleston

Remember all those Marvel shows that were announced for Disney+? While everyone has been obsessing over how cute that creature is in “The Mandalorian,” Marvel Studios has continued to make progress towards the multiple announced series for Disney’s streaming service. The latest news includes the casting of Sophia Di Martino to star alongside Tom Hiddleston in the upcoming “Loki” series.

The news comes from Variety, with a report that Di Martino, who recently starred in “Yesterday,” the already-forgotten movie about a world that forgets about The Beatles, is joining the new Marvel TV show. “Loki” will be written by Michael Waldron (“Rick and Morty”), who will also serve as showrunner, and directed by Kate Herron (“Sex Education”).

In case you need a refresher, we last saw the God of Mischief in “Avengers: Endgame” when he stole an Infinity Stone and escaped custody, creating an alternate timeline in the process. It is unknown what the show will be about, exactly, but it is expected that we will see Loki pop up throughout history as he influences historical events in hilariously evil fashion. No confirmation on whether the show will include Loki’s drunken grandfather named Rick who will take him on misadventures through the multiverse.

Hiddleston has previously spoken about being aware of the series since before the release of “Avengers: Infinity War,” and told MTV back in August that we will see new aspects of the character, as he faces “more formidable opponents, the like of which he has never seen or known.”

As we wait for more updates on “Loki,” keep your eyes out on news on the other live-action Marvel shows like next year’s “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” “Wandavision,” and the still up-in-the-air “Hawkeye” series.
