Did you know that Zac Efron has a production company? He does and it's called Ninjas Runnin' Wild Productions. Seriously. And that's runnin' not running, dawg. And over the past few years he's accumulated a small slate of projects that are moving through development incuding a remake of Daniel Espinosa's breakout film "Snabba Cash." And now, he's dipping his toes into the supernatural thriller sphere.
Efron is teaming with writer/producer Akiva Goldsman ("A Beautiful Mind," "Jonah Hex") for "The Falling." Based on an idea conceived within the walls of Warner Bros., who will also back the picture. The logline is being kept secret, though they will allow that it's "an edgy thriller centering around an otherworldly being." Okay, then. Efron will star in the movie, but it won't be happening anytime soon, as the search is now on a for a writer who will pen the first draft of the thing.
Until then, Efron is keeping busy having recently wrapped the rom-com "Are We Officially Dating?" featuring Sundance Film Festival breakout stars Miles Teller ("The Spectacular Now"), Michael B. Jordan ("Fruitvale") and Mackenzie Davis ("Breathe In"). He's currently shooting the JFK assassination drama "Parkland" and will be seen this spring in theaters in Ramin Bahrani's "At Any Price."[THR]
