'Safety Not Guaranteed' Helmer Colin Trevorrow To Direct 'Jurassic Park 4'

Colin Trevorrow, Jurassic Park 4It seems pretty cute to think about the time when “Safety Not Guaranteed” helmer Colin Trevorrow was rumored to direct “Star Wars: Episode 7,” but another mammoth sequel is now in his lap, with fanboy expectations that will certainly be very high.

Though Steven Spielberg was briefly rumored today in certain corners (he’s still producing), it’s Trevorrow who has emerged to direct “Jurassic Park IV.” This is a massive jump from little indie to mega-franchise, but it’s not entirely a shock. He’s made impressions with the right people, with Disney already tapping him to write and direct their “Flight Of The Navigator” remake. And with Trevorrow teasing last year that he was involved with a project with some “mythology” behind it, perhaps this was it.

And this is moving very fast. NOLA reports that Universal has already booked studio space in Baton Rouge from April to November, and with a date set for June 14, 2014 it looks like we’re going to be hearing a lot more about this very soon. Is Trevorrow the right guy for this? Does it even matter if people just want to see dinosaurs smashing shit? If you can’t wait until then, “Jurassic Park 3D” brings you the original in your face, on April 5th.
