July’s 11 Must-Watch TV Shows, From ‘Lucky’ To ‘Furious’ & ‘X-Men ’97’

July brings mutant nostalgia, high-profile literary adaptations, crime dramas, comedy spinoffs, and another strong month for Apple TV+ genre fare.

The Hawk
For viewers in need of more golf-based comedy, Will Ferrell is teeing up the Netflix series “The Hawk.” Created by Ferrell, Harper Steele, and Chris Henchy, the series follows a top golfer chasing a major comeback. The cast includes Molly Shannon, Jimmy Tatro, Fortune Feimster, Chris Parnell, Katelyn Tarver, David Hornsby, Luke Wilson, Gabriel Hogan, and Aida Osman.
Release Date: Season 1 premieres July 16 on Netflix.

Stuart Fails to Save the Universe
The “Big Bang Theory” universe keeps expanding. Following “Young Sheldon” and “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage,” “Stuart Fails to Save the Universe” brings Kevin Sussman’s comic-book store owner, Stuart, back to the center of the action. Created by Chuck Lorre, Zak Penn, and Bill Prady, the series follows Stuart as he’s tasked with restoring reality after accidentally bringing about the end of the universe.
Release Date: Season 1 premieres July 23 on HBO Max.

Furious
Rossum leads Hulu’s latest crime drama as an FBI agent who partners with a seasoned investigator to track down a female serial killer with specific motives. Elizabeth Meriwether, the creator behind “New Girl,” “The Dropout,” and “Dying for Sex,” serves as showrunner. Lola Petticrew, Scoot McNairy, Quincy Tyler Bernstine, and Jake Lacy round out the cast.
Release Date: Season 1 premieres July 27 on Hulu.

The Bombing of Pan Am 103
The six-part historical drama “The Bombing of Pan Am 103” details the deadliest terrorist attack in British history and the British and American investigations that followed. Created by Jonathan Lee and developed by Adam Morane-Griffiths, the series stars Connor Swindells, Merritt Wever, and Patrick J. Adams.
Release Date: The series premieres July 30 on Netflix.

Honorable Mentions: Elsewhere, “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” returns for its fourth and final season on July 23 on Paramount+, continuing the voyage of Captain Christopher Pike and the crew of the starship Enterprise. The romantic comedy series “Trying” also returns for Season 5 on Apple TV+ on July 8, while Prime Video has the action-romance series “Ride or Die.” Netflix has a handful of international titles and returning series in the mix, including “Ransom Canyon” Season 2, the historical horror drama “The East Palace,” out July 17, and the adaptation of the 1960 tokusatsu film “Human Vapor,” premiering July 2. And for more franchise TV, “The Walking Dead: Dead City” returns for Season 3 on AMC.
