Over the course of nearly 15 years, filmmaker Martin McDonagh has only released three features. But when your debut film is “In Bruges” and your most recent feature, “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” was nominated for a ton of Oscars, people tend to get excited about each release, even if there is a big gap between films. But it appears that McDonagh isn’t going to be wasting time over the next couple of years, already in production on one new film and lining up the cast for the one after that.
According to Deadline, Martin McDonagh, who is in production on the film “The Banshees of Inisherin,” which reunites him with “In Bruges” stars Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson, is already lining up for his next-next film. The untitled film is apparently based on yet another script from McDonagh and is already ready to announce its cast, which includes Oscar Isaac, Sam Rockwell, and Christopher Walken.
Much like he’s shown in the past, McDonagh is clearly a fan of bringing back actors he enjoys working with, as both Christopher Walken and Sam Rockwell have previously collaborated with the filmmaker. Both Rockwell and Walken worked with McDonagh on 2012’s “Seven Psychopaths.” However, Rockwell also won an Oscar for his performance in the aforementioned, “Three Billboards.”
Isaac hasn’t worked with the director previously, but that doesn’t mean he’s some sort of slouch. No, sir. Isaac is one of the biggest names in Hollywood and is coming off a role in the huge blockbuster “Dune.” He’s currently in production in the Marvel Studios TV series, “Moon Knight.”
It’s unclear what the plot of the untitled film from McDonagh will look like. That said, when you consider the three names that have just been announced as starring in the film, you can’t help but be excited to see what the filmmaker has up his sleeve next.
