If you’re someone who has directed a children’s animated horror film (“Monster House”), a live-action horror remake (“Poltergeist”), and a TV horror remake (“Scream”), what do you think would be the next project on your slate? Well, in the case of Gil Kenan, the filmmaker behind the aforementioned projects, he’s tackling a family-friendly Christmas film, “A Boy Called Christmas.” Obviously.

As seen in the new trailer for “A Boy Called Christmas,” the film tells the story of Nikolas, a young boy that goes on a big adventure in the north to find his dad and to figure out if the stories of Elfhelm, aka the elf village, are true. While there, he finds more magic and friendship than he was expecting, leading to a new destiny for the child.
The family film stars Henry Lawfull, Toby Jones, Sally Hawkins, Kristen Wiig, Michiel Huisman, Zoe Colletti, Stephen Merchant, Joel Fry, Rune Temte, Jim Broadbent, and Maggie Smith. As mentioned, the film is directed by Gil Kenan, who co-wrote the script alongside Ol Parker.
