‘A Head Full Of Ghosts’: David Harbour & Rebecca Hall To Star In Upcoming Horror Film Directed By ‘Goodnight Mommy’ Duo

Here’s an intriguing package heading to the Berlinale‘s EFM next week. Deadline reports that Lionsgate will be selling the international rights to “A Head Full Of Ghosts” in Berlin, a new horror pic with David Harbour, Rebecca Hall, and Esmé Creed-Miles in talks to star. Also of note: it’s “Goodnight Mommy” duo Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala behind the camera; the pair also helmed 2020’s “The Lodge,” starring Riley Keough.

And for those who’ve seen their previous films, it’s clear from its synopsis that “A Head Full Of Ghosts” is in Franz and Fiala’s wheelhouse. Here it is: “The Barretts’ suburban life is torn apart when their teenage daughter’s descent into madness becomes the subject of a reality show. Fifteen years later, her sister Merry faces her family’s haunting past with a journalist, uncovering the very nature of the evil that destroyed them.”

Based on Paul Tremblay‘s 2015 novel of the same name, the pic will be produced by Daniel Dubiecki and Lara Alameddine of The Allegiance Theater, Susan Downey and Robert Downey Jr. of Team Downey, David Gambino, and Fifth Season. Film on the project starts in March.

Here’s a press statement on “A Head Full Of Ghosts,” courtesy of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson “We’re thrilled to partner with Team Downey, The Allegiance Theater, and David Gambino, and our friends at Fifth Season, who collectively bring exceptional prestige and creative confidence to the project. This team’s artistic vision for this terrifying story has been undeniable – striking, distinct and genuinely unsettling. It’s no surprise that Stephen King called this book his favorite novel of the past decade and said that it ‘scared the living hell’ out of him – which says it all.”

Harbour adds “A Head Full Of Ghosts” to a list of upcoming projects that includes “Avengers: Doomsday” “Violent Night 2,” “Goat,” and “Evil Genius.” He also stars in HBO‘s upcoming series “DTF St. Louis.”

As for Hall, she has four films on the way: Adam Wingard‘s “Onslaught,” “Zero Protocol,” “The Man I Love,” and “The End Of It.” The actress currently stars in “THe Beauty,” Ryan Murphy‘s latest TV show, premiering in FX and FX On Hulu now.

Creed-Miles has two features on the way in 2026, a new “Sense And Sensibility” adaptation over at Focus Features, and “Lucia.” The English actress is best known by US audiences for her role in the Netflix series “The Sandman.”

Stay tuned for more details on “A Head Full Of Ghosts,” a project that Lionsgate no doubt expects good things from.
