John Boyega, Felicity Jones, Jack Reynor & Jodie Turner-Smith Join 'Borderland' From 'The Uninvited' Directors

Sometimes it doesn’t matter what the plot of a film is about, but there’s enough star power in the cast to warrant a watch. And that appears to be the case with the upcoming feature “Borderland.”

According to Deadline, actors John Boyega, Jack Reynor, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Felicity Jones have all signed on to star in the new thriller, “Borderland.” The film follows the story of an Irish paramilitary fighter who watches his wife get gunned down by a SAS sergeant. The widower then joins a group that is wreaking havoc on the city to help fulfill his goal of revenge. “Borderland” is set to be directed by the Guard Brothers. The new film is based on the book “The Road To Balcombe Street” by Steven S. Moysey. The script is co-written by the Guard Brothers and “Public Enemies” screenwriter Ronan Bennett.

As mentioned, the film is co-written and directed by Charles and Thomas Guard, better known as the Guard Brothers. Before “Borderland,” the duo directed the horror feature, “The Uninvited,” back in 2009. This new feature marks their first film in more than a decade.

“‘Borderland’ is a vengeance fueled chase movie, fusing some pulse ticking action with a powerful message for our times,” said the directors. “We’re thrilled that the script, driven as much by character as it is by plot, has attracted such a first-rate cast.”

First-rate is definitely an apt description of this cast. Boyega, of course, is probably best known for being one of the leads of the new “Star Wars” trilogy. He’s proven himself to be one of the most charismatic actors working today. Reynor has been doing this a while, but really wowed people with his role in “Midsommar,” as perhaps the worst boyfriend in history. Turner-Smith is relatively new to superstardom but impressed with her co-lead role in “Queen & Slim.” And Jones is probably the most experienced out of all of them, with a lead role in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” and an Oscar nomination for her work in “The Theory of Everything.”

There’s no release date set for “Borderland.”
