Chris Hemsworth Claims 'Avengers 4' Will Be "Even More Shocking" Than 'Infinity War'

It’s rare that you are surprised at the movie theater. Unless you’re one of those soulless weirdos that avoid trailers and TV spots, as if it’s 1983 (kidding, of course, I envy you!), by the time a film hits the big screen, you’ve already been inundated with countless pieces of marketing materials and clips and have already formulated the three-act structure in your mind. However, for “Avengers: Infinity War,” odds are you still left the theater shocked, even if you absorbed all that pre-release footage.

And if you thought there’s no way that Marvel Studios can possibly shock you more in the next film in the series, ‘Avengers 4,’ then actor Chris Hemsworth, aka Thor, has some news for you (via Esquire):

“If you were shocked by [‘Infinity War’], I think the second one is even more shocking, for other reasons entirely. That’s what kind of blew me away the first time I read both scripts, is how they managed to orchestrate so many different characters but give them each their own separate shot and moments, and have it be elevated and feel fresh and unique—not just like a messy, thrown-together assembly of these guys.”

Now, it’s commonplace for actors to throw around hyperbolic statements (also known as “lies”) when promoting their upcoming films. However, after watching ‘Infinity War,’ and knowing that the folks over at Marvel Studios know what the hell they’re doing, you can’t help but believe Hemsworth’s claims. The only question at this point is what can possibly top the “deaths” of two-thirds of your favorite heroes? We have a long year ahead of us, True Believers!

But Hemsworth wasn’t done talking about his Marvel films. In fact, he decided to poke a little at the proverbial Internet bear by saying that his ability to improvise on set is all thanks to his time working with Paul Feig on the ill-fated “Ghostbusters” reboot:

“It does [happen on the Marvel sets.] From ‘Thor 3,’ definitely, it became hugely improvised. And I’m so glad I’ve been able to work with Paul prior to that. And I’ve done ‘Saturday Night Live’ a couple of times; I have a movie called ‘Vacation.’ So by the time I got to ‘Thor 3,’ I was incredibly enthusiastic to do it. Taika Waititi, the director, had the same opinion. And we carried that into ‘Avengers.’”

So, no matter what your thoughts are about the “Ghostbusters” reboot, you have to at least be thankful that Hemsworth learned a thing or two on set.

Another Avenger has been making the publicity rounds lately, opening up about ‘Infinity War.’ Vision, aka actor Paul Bettany, is promoting ‘Solo,’ and in doing so, is asked quite a bit about his fate at the end of ‘Avengers.’ For those that don’t remember, Vision has the distinct privilege of dying twice in the film, once by Scarlet Witch and the other at the hands of Thanos, in a quick little lobotomy.

Bettany, of course, has some thoughts about his fate, particularly the first death with Elizabeth Olsen’s character. When he was asked which death this summer was his favorite, he said to GQ, “Ooooh, I don’t know. I think that being murdered by the love of your life [Scarlet Witch] because you’re asking them to is pretty moving stuff that they wrote for us.”

As mentioned above, we’ll have to wait until next May to see if Vision joins the rest of the dead MCU heroes, as they inevitably come back to life and beat the hell out of Thanos, when ‘Avengers 4’ hits theaters.
