Christopher Nolan Calls Rapper Travis Scott's New 'Tenet' Song "The Final Piece" To The Puzzle

Christopher Nolan is a blockbuster filmmaker. He’s created films with space travel, magic, time manipulation, and even superheroes. However, unlike other blockbuster filmmakers like Michael Bay, for example, Nolan’s films don’t normally come with a soundtrack filled with pop music. During the pivotal third act in “Inception,” you didn’t hear some cheesy rock song from Papa Roach, right? Well, that’s apparently changing for “Tenet.” No, Nolan isn’t including Papa Roach in the film, but he has found a talented musical artist that he feels fits perfectly with his upcoming action epic.

In a recent profile in GQ, Travis Scott let it slip that he has contributed a song to the film “Tenet.” For those not familiar with Scott, he’s an incredibly popular rapper who has sold more than 45 million albums in the US and has been nominated for half a dozen Grammys. And apparently, he’s going to add “Christopher Nolan collaborator” to his resume.

While the details of the song aren’t known, Nolan did confirm to GQ that Scott is contributing music for the film and actually went so far as to call Scott the “final piece” to the “Tenet” puzzle.

“His voice became the final piece of a yearlong puzzle,” Nolan said. “His insights into the musical and narrative mechanism [composer] Ludwig Göransson and I were building were immediate, insightful, and profound.”

While he obviously can’t talk about the film, Scott did hype it up a bit and said, “I can’t even explain it. You literally just have to watch it. It’s very fire.”

We are mere weeks away from “Tenet” arriving in theaters around the world. And finally, we’ll be able to figure out what the hell Nolan has up his sleeve for his next feature and if it can somehow live up to this ridiculous hype. Because, honestly, as we get closer to the September 4 release date in the US, it feels as if there’s nothing timey-wimey that Nolan can do in the film that will make “Tenet” somehow surprise us even more than we are already expecting.

But hey, no matter what, we’ll get some new Travis Scott music out of the deal.
