'The Croods: A New Age' Trailer: Ryan Reynolds & Emma Stone Return To The Animated Franchise

In the world of huge animation franchises, “The Croods” might get lost under the hype of “Despicable Me,” “Ice Age,” and whatever Disney is working on. That being said, you could argue that the cast for “The Croods” is perhaps even better than any other major animated film franchises working today. And that alone makes “The Croods 2” maybe worth checking out.

The Croods 2: A New Age” follows the title family of cave people as they venture out of their normal area and meet up with a brand-new family. However, things get a little crazy when they realize that the new family (The Bettermans) are way more advanced and live in what seems to be a paradise.

The voice cast for the sequel includes Nicolas Cage, Emma Stone, Ryan Reynolds, Catherine Keener, Cloris Leachman, Clark Duke, Leslie Mann, Peter Dinklage, and Kelly Marie Tran. “The Croods 2” is directed by Joel Crawford, making his feature-length filmmaking debut. Previously, he worked in the art department on a number of high-profile animated features such as “Kung-Fu Panda,” “Trolls,” and “The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water.”

“The Croods 2: A New Age” is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on November 25. But as we stress with all of the fall dates, that is definitely subject to change.

Here’s the synopsis:

The Croods have survived their fair share of dangers and disasters, from fanged prehistoric beasts to watching their daughter get heart eyes over a new boyfriend. But now they face something that will shake their pack to its core and make them reconsider everything they hold true: another family. The Croods need a new place to live. So, the first prehistoric family sets off into the world in search of a safer place to call home. When they discover an idyllic walled-in paradise that meets all their needs, they think their problems are solved … except for one thing. Another family already lives there: the Bettermans. The Bettermans (emphasis on the “better”)—with their elaborate tree house, amazing inventions and irrigated acres of fresh produce—are a couple of steps above the Croods on the evolutionary ladder. When they take the Croods in as the world’s first houseguests, it isn’t long before tensions reach a breaking point. Just when all seems lost, a new threat will propel both families on an epic adventure outside the safety of the wall, one that will force them to embrace their differences, draw strength from each other and forge a future together.
