'Den Of Thieves' Trailer: Gerard Butler Goes From 'Geostorm' To This

We all love a good heist film. Whether it’s “one last job” or a wild spree, the preparation, the twists, and the inevitable violence are all alluring. A robbery is a perfect pressure-cooker, where greed, self-preservation, and panic slowly unspools the best-laid plans and the strongest loyalties. Really, it makes for great edge-of-the-seat cinema.

Speaking of heist-thrillers, Christian Gudegast, the writer of “A Man Apart” and “London Has Fallen,” is making his directorial debut with one such heist-thriller, “Den of Thieves,” which he also writes. Cool.

Gudegast’s upcoming movie follows a top-notch crew of bank robbers who are determined to hit the Federal Reserve in Los Angeles. Why? Well, apparently, over $100 million in cash is removed from circulation every day, at which point it is taken to the Federal Reserve to be destroyed. The “Den of Thieves” crew asks the obvious question: What happens if that money gets thieved before it gets destroyed? Hmm…

The movie stars Gerard Butler, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Paul Schreiber, O’Shea Jackson, Jr., Evan Jones, Dawn Olivieri, Mo McRae, and Max Holloway. Here is the official synopsis:

A Los Angeles crime saga in the vein of “Heat”, DEN OF THIEVES follows the intersecting and often personally connected lives of an elite unit of the LA County Sheriff’s Dept. and the state’s most successful bank robbery crew as the outlaws plan a seemingly impossible heist on the Federal Reserve Bank of downtown Los Angeles.

“Den of Thieves” hits theaters on January 19, 2018 so make sure to put it on your New Years Resolution list.
