Got a Tip?

‘Dumb and Dumber’ Sequel Put Into Turnaround, But Jim Carrey Joined By Owen Wilson In ‘Loomis Fargo’

nullWhat once were grand plans for a summer 2013 are now gone. Despite talking about it a lot, particularly on their press run for “The Stooges,” it looks like Warner Bros. has finally yanked the lifeline that was keeping the thin hopes of a sequel to “Dumb & Dumber” alive. But perhaps this isn’t really a surprise?

For those of you who have been following the project breathlessly through every update, you might recall that last June, Jim Carrey “dropped out” (or kinda pretended to), saying that the studio didn’t seem all that hot on the idea. “I would have thought ‘Dumb and Dumber To‘ was a no-brainer, after all it’s implied in the title,” he says of the intentionally misspelled and obviously totally hilarious name given to the Farrelly Brothers follow-up. But what would it have been about?

Well, THR reveals that the plot would’ve seen Harry and Lloyd “hit the road to find Harry’s illegitimate daughter for a kidney transplant.” ARE YOU LAUGHING YET? The fatherhood plot-line was teased last year as well, though it really just sounds like a thin excuse for another road-trip story. Anyway, WB has put into turnaround, but Carrey and co. are free to shop it other studios, to see who’s willing to bite.

So what will Carrey get up to next? Well, “Loomis Fargo” (title will be changing) for “Napoleon Dynamite” director Jared Hess is gearing up with, Deadline reporting that Owen Wilson has joined the movie. Penned by Emily Spivey, the heist comedy is based on a true story and follows a disgruntled armor truck driver who organizes a $20 million dollar robbery, only to get double-crossed. No word yet on when it will shoot, but probably once Wilson is done is work on Paul Thomas Anderson‘s “Inherent Vice.”
