Fox In Negotiations For Micro-Budget 'Chronicle' Written By Max Landis; Mike Tyson Did 'The Hangover' For Drugs

In an attempt to cash in on the superhero genre and the micro-budget successes of “Paranormal Activity” and “Cloverfield,” Fox has begun negotiations to nab spec script “Chronicle” by Max Landis, son of John Landis. Directed by first-timer Josh Trank (editor of “Big Fan”), the pic will center on three teen friends that gain super powers by finding a “mysterious substance” in the woods. They begin practicing their powers for fun, but turn on one another when personal problems arise. Well, if you don’t want super powers, don’t go in the woods and start touching things, most specifically mysterious substances. Shooting will be documentary style, which translates into $400 Best Buy cameras held by someone with Parkinson’s disease.

Believe it or not, Mike Tyson did “The Hangover” to support his drug habit. In a candid interview (seeming like an audio sequel to the oddly strong doc “Tyson“) with ESPN Radio Las Vegas, he said “I was doing that to supply my drug habit. I’m sorry I’m coming at you guys like this… I said, ‘Wow, This is going to be really good. We’re going to sell this stuff on 42nd street on bootleg and make a lot of money.’ This is my best thinking on drugs… It wasn’t that way. It was an international success.” Read on to find out why he turned vegan and why the worst thing about him weighing 350 lbs is how difficult it was to “wipe (his) butt.”

It’s been five years, and finally the Natalie Holloway story will be milked and exploited for the enjoyment of film audiences everywhere! For those unfamiliar, Holloway was a teenager on a trip to Aruba that disappeared mysteriously, with Dutch national Joran van der Sloot being accused of her kidnapping. Dutch-born filmmaker Paul Ruven will helm the English-language “Me & Mr. Jones,” which will have an undercover journalist break in to the accused’s home in order to find more information regarding the case. Release for the Lifetime movie-esque film will be early next year.
