'God Particle' aka 'Cloverfield 3' Moved To Fall 2017

A couple months back, we learned that “God Particle,” a mysterious project brewing under J.J. AbramsBad Robot banner, was actually going to be the next mystery installment in the “Cloverfield” franchise. Similar to how “10 Cloverfield Lane” went into production under the working title “The Cellar,“ the latest entry in the anthology franchise was keeping its secrets close to the vest. But with the cat out of the bag, fans were genuinely excited to see what was coming on the film’s originally planned release date of February 24, 2017. Unfortunately, they’ve going to have to keep waiting.

“God Particle” aka “Cloverfield 3” will now land on October 27, 2017 where it’s only competition right now for that week is the next “Saw” film. Good luck to that film, as this movie brings together a great cast including David Oyelowo, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Ziyi Zhang, Elizabeth Debicki, Daniel Brühl and Chris O’Dowd, in the Oren Uziel (“22 Jump Street,” “Freaks Of Nature“) for a story about a group of astronauts who make a shocking discovery that changes the fabric of reality, leading to a fight for their survival. We’re in….but we’ll have to patient.

The delay on this movie isn’t too surprising, considering that principal photography was completed a few months ago. But it’ll be interesting to see how Paramount approaches the marketing for “Cloverfield 3.” One of the things that made “10 Cloverfield Lane” so refreshing is that we didn’t have to endure an endless cycle of hype before the movie arrived —the trailer dropped, and a couple of months later it was in theaters. And going in without knowing much is what made that experience so refreshing. So hopefully, they’ll take the same approach this time around.
