Henry Cavill's Sherlock Holmes Has To Deal With His Younger Sister Millie Bobby Brown In New Film 'Enola Holmes'

Hollywood has been fixated on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes character for decades. We’ve seen so many different iterations of the character, portrayed by the likes of Benedict Cumberbatch, Robert Downey, Jr, Ian McKellen, and Peter Cushing, just to name several. And now, it appears that the film industry isn’t done with the detective just yet. But this time, Sherlock is only playing second fiddle to his younger sister Enola.

Variety is reporting that Legendary has signed Henry Cavill to portray Sherlock Holmes opposite Millie Bobby Brown’s Enola in the appropriately titled “Enola Holmes.” Based on Nancy Springer book series “The Enola Holmes Mysteries,” the film follows the younger sister to Sherlock as she solves her own mysteries.

“Enola Holmes” is set to be directed by Harry Bradbeer, who is probably best known for his work on the spy series “Killing Eve.” The writer of the upcoming HBO/BBC series “His Dark Materials,” Jack Thorne penned the script.

Cavill, of course, is best known for playing Superman in the Warner Bros./DC films superhero franchise. He’s also recently starred in last year’s massive action film “Mission: Impossible – Fallout.” He’s joined by Brown, who is the lead in the hugely successful Netflix series “Stranger Things” and recently seen in the underperforming “Godzilla: King of the Monsters.”

Actress Helena Bonham Carter is also joining the cast. She has been seen in a variety of films, including many appearances in Tim Burton projects and the ‘Harry Potter’ franchise. Recently, she’s showed up in the film “Ocean’s 8” and the Emmy-winning series “The Crown.”

Production on “Enola Holmes” is set to begin this summer, making a 2020 release date very likely.
