Pennywise the Dancing Clown, played by Swedish actor Bill Skarsgård, is making a grand return this month with HBO‘s “IT: Weclome To Derry” expected to explore the events leading up the two feature films directed by Andy Muschietti, who returns to helm episodes as the show takes place in 1962 with a new group of children that catch on to Pennywise terrorizing the small-town community.
They’ve dropped yet another new trailer that spotlights the mature aspects of the horror series, along with a clear look at Pennywise himself in the TV incarnation.
Instead of relying on the hefty Stephen King novel, the series is looking to fill in gaps in the “IT” timeline, showcasing what the interdimensional creature (connected to King’s “The Dark Tower” universe) has been up to before the events of the two movies, as the two follow-up seasons are said to be set in 1935 and 1908, respectively. Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, and Jason Fuchs cracked the show’s story that looks to expand upon the lore.
Synopsis for the new series:
Four months after their classmate’s sudden disappearance, Teddy, Phil, Lilly, and Ronnie vow to figure out why so many kids have gone missing in Derry…and why they’ve each been experiencing strange phenomena. Meanwhile, Major Leroy Hanlon arrives at Derry Air Force Base, where he navigates a chilly reception from some of his fellow airmen.
A cast assembled for the new series includes Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, James Remar, Stephen Rider, Madeleine Stowe, and Rudy Mancuso.
You can watch that new red band (not safe for work) trailer below as “IT: Welcome To Derry” is heading to HBO/HBO Max on October 26.
