CODA, King Richard And Dune earn 2022 WGA Awards Film Nominations

The television writers earned their kudos earlier this month, but today it was time for the film scripters to land some union recognition. The Writer’s Guild of America capped off their 2022 WGA Awards nominations process honoring “Being the Ricardos,” “Don’t Look Up,” “The French Dispatch,” “King Richard” and “Licorice Pizza” for Original Screenplay. “CODA,” “Dune,” “Nightmare Alley,” “tick, tick…BOOM!” and “West Side Story” filled out the Adapted Screenplay ranks.

Whether these WGA nominees are a true indicator of the Oscar nominees for both the Adapted and Original Screenplay categories remains to be seen. There is a massive list of films that were not eligible because the screenwriters were not WGA members. Those films include “The Power of the Dog,” “The Lost Daughter,” “Belfast,” “Passing,” “A Hero,” “Drive My Car” and “Parallel Mothers,” among others.

The 74th WGA Awards will be handed out on March 20.

All of this year’s films nominees are as follows:
