Limited Series Retells 'Star Wars' Episodes 1-6 Chronologically Through C-3PO & R2-D2's Eyes, With Lego

Star Wars, Phantom MenaceLet’s make one thing clear: while Disney is restarting a franchise with "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," they are also using the Force to make mega money from merchandising. In 2010, a year in which no "Star Wars" movie was released and the sequels were a distant thought, Lucasfilm earned $510 million — half a billion — in revenue from "Star Wars" related sales. Now all that cheddar is coming to the House of Mouse, and you can bet accountants are having wet dreams about the kind of moola that will roll in for "Star Wars" branded stuff when ‘The Force Awakens’ arrives. But it’s not just the movie that’s gonna move product.

Disney XD and Lego will drop "Lego Star Wars: Droid Tales," a limited series of five, 22-minute episodes that will retell the first six "Star Wars" episodes through the eyes of C-3PO and R2-D2. And oh yeah, it will be done with Lego, in chronological order. Why? Probably because there are a ton of new toys on the way that allow kids and kids-at-heart to rebuild sets, vehicles, and more from the previous movies brick-by-brick. So seeing them in action in an animated series only stokes those toy buying fires even more.

Stay tuned for exact dates when this will air, but in the meantime, here’s the poster of all the Lego products you will ask Santa for at Christmas. [THR]
