Ben Stiller To Produce New Thriller Series 'Dark Cargo' Directed By 'Girlfriend Experience' Series Creator

Lodge Kerrigan and Nick Santora have both been drafted for the pilot of Youtube’s “Dark Cargo.” The show, produced by Ben Stiller and Nicky Weinstock, is set to start production at the end of March, according to Deadline.

The plot for the new show follows long haul driver Joe Dobbs as his encounter with a random stranger sends him down a path of outracing the police, time, and the malevolent forces chasing down the big rig. All the while, our hero just wants to get back to his family in this fast-paced, cliff-hanging drama.

Nick Santora will be the screenwriter for the pilot of the new drama. He is better known for his writing and producing of tv shows like “The Sopranos,” “Law & Order,” “Lie to Me,” and his own “Beauty and the Geek.” Lodge Kerrigan, on the other hand, is the co-creator and director of the tv adaption of “The Girlfriend Experience,” based on the Steven Soderbergh film of the same name. His 2010 drama “Rebecca H. (Return to the Dogs)” was even entered into the Cannes Film Festival of that year. His hand for drama will be lent to “Dark Cargo,” which is meant to be a neo-noir thriller.

Looks like Ben Stiller’s been focusing on producing recently, working on projects like Netflix movies “Alex Strangelove” and “The Package.” He is probably best known for his part in comedies like “Zoolander,” “Meet the Fockers,” and of course his Emmy Award-winning tv show “The Ben Stiller Show.” Once again he’s lending his hand producing for this newest project, written by Adam and Max Reid (“Sneaky Pete”), via his Red Hour Productions company.

No release date is set yet, but with the crew coming together the new Youtube show looks like it’s promising.
