Michael Chabon's 'The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay' Coming To Showtime As A Limited Series

After receiving the Pulitzer Prize way back in 2001, the novel “The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay” has been in development in Hollywood for the better part of two decades. However, after numerous starts and stops, it appears that the long wait will likely be coming to an end soon, thanks to Showtime and CBS Television.

According to Deadline, Showtime is developing a limited series based on the acclaimed novel, “The Adventures of Kavalier & Clay.” The series is being developed and written by author Michael Chabon and his creative partner/wife, Ayelet Waldman. ‘Kavalier & Clay’ tells the story of two Jewish men, an artist and writer, respectively, as they develop comic books during the genre’s Golden Age, as well as dealing with life before and after World War II.

David Stapf, President of CBS Television Studios said, “Ayelet and Michael are two of America’s pre-eminent writers. From award-winning novels and non-fiction to their television and film collaborations, they have a remarkable body of work. We’re thrilled to have them on our incredibly talented roster.”

“The team at CBS Studios is the best we’ve ever worked with,” said Waldman and Chabon. “We’re looking forward with so much excitement to this next phase of our collaboration.”

‘Kavalier & Clay’ is part of an overall deal that Chabon and Waldman signed with CBS Television to develop series based on the acclaimed output of the author. No word yet on when we might see the latest limited series arrive on Showtime, but considering the almost 20-year wait already, another year or so isn’t going to kill anyone.
