'Mutant Mayhem': Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross To Compose The Score For Upcoming 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Animated Film

While it’s been a little while since the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” franchise has found success on the big screen, it appears, at least at first glance, that the new animated film, ‘Mutant Mayhem,’ could be the reboot that the Turtles need. The film is very clearly borrowing a bit of the style of “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” and is using it to reinvent ‘TMNT’ for a new audience. And to add to the intrigue is the news that the score for ‘Mutant Mayhem’ is going to feature two of the best composers working today.

According to the co-director of “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem,” Jeff Rowe, the score for the upcoming animated film will be composed by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. These men are the Oscar-winning duo who have worked on the music for films such as “Gone Girl,” “The Social Network,” “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” “Soul,” and “Bones and All.” The news was originally leaked by Tony Hawk during a podcast but now has been made official.

“Well now that my teenage hero [Tony Hawk] has leaked that my music heroes are doing this I can add that the score is absolutely AMAZING,” tweeted Rowe. “Exhilarating, terrifying, heartbreaking, full of sounds I didn’t know existed. I don’t have the vocabulary to describe it. I love it so much.”

In addition to ‘TMNT,’ Reznor and Ross have a couple of other films on the horizon, including David Fincher’sThe Killer” and Luca Guadagnino’sChallengers.” Those are both expected later this year.

The voice cast for ‘TMNT’ includes Nicolas Cantu, Shamon Brown Jr., Micah Abbey, Brady Noon, Jackie Chan, Ayo Edebiri, Seth Rogen, John Cena, Ice Cube, Paul Rudd, Rose Byrne, Post Malone, Maya Rudolph, and Giancarlo Esposito.

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” arrives in theaters on August 2.
