While we already have David Fincher‘s “Gone Girl” on alert as a possible Best Picture contender, there are some variables to consider in the Ben Affleck starring thriller, based on the bestselling book by Gillian Flynn. Notably, the casting has some interesting choices in the shape of roles for Tyler Perry and Neil Patrick Harris. And eyebrows may be further raised by the news of what sounds like a fairly intense sex scene between Harris and titular gone girl, played by Rosamund Pike.
Chatting with Out, Harris revealed the now expected clinical approach Fincher took with him and Pike when they got down and went between the sheets. “We had to rehearse the sex scene with David [Fincher], like every inch of it—’Then you put your mouth on his d**k here, and then this number of thrusts, and then you ejaculate’. It was weird because we’re technically breaking down the sex scene,” Harris shared.
“He wanted it to be almost robotic, that we know exactly where we are, position-wise, where everything goes. And yet, through all of that, the whole ‘I’m gay’ element was never even thought about,” he added.
So, consider it another fascinating ingredient to contemplate in Fincher’s take on the novel, which in case you forgot, has a completely new ending penned by Flynn. “Gone Girl” opens on October 3rd. [via Digital Spy]
