'Night Has Fallen': Gerard Butler Teams With 'Angel Has Fallen' Director For Another Mike Banning Adventure

First, the White House was in trouble in “Olympus Has Fallen.” Next, it was all of London in “London Has Fallen.” Then, it was God and angels and the Devil in “Angel Has Fallen” (Note: I didn’t see the movie, so I could very well be wrong about that description). Now, Gerard Butler is going to save…night? That’s right, Butler has a fourth ‘Has Fallen’ movie on deck with the forthcoming “Night Has Fallen.”

According to Millennium Media, Gerard Butler is bringing his “Angel Has Fallen” friends, director Ric Roman Waugh and writer Robert Mark Kamen, back together to do another adventure in the journey of badass world-saver, Mike Banning. Details about the plot are unknown, but the film will assuredly find Butler carrying a gun and shooting tons of bad guys in the face while simultaneously trying to save the world. He’s freaking Mike Banning!

“The ‘Has Fallen’ journey continues and we couldn’t be more excited to take on the challenge of building on this beloved franchise with our dear friends Alan Siegel and Gerard Butler,” said Jeffrey Greenstein, President of Millennium Media. “These films are not driven just by action, but by the special characters and relationships of Mike Banning and his friends, family, and foes. We look forward to teaming back up again with ‘Angel Has Fallen’s’ Ric Roman Waugh to captivate audiences worldwide on another journey full of these touching and fun character moments, as well as unique and heightened action, and a dark turn of events that will send this next installment down a wildly unexpected trajectory.”

As mentioned, “Night Has Fallen” reteams Butler with Waugh and Kamen, who both worked on “Angel Has Fallen.” And in the case of Butler and Waugh, they’re also collaborators on the upcoming disaster film, “Greenland,” which was originally intended to hit theaters earlier this year but will now go straight to VOD on December 18 before heading to HBO Max after.

It’s unclear when we might see “Night Has Fallen,” but we have to assume it’ll be soon, as these films seem to arrive every two years or so, like clockwork.
