‘Outer Banks’ Trailer: Netflix Combines ‘Dawson’s Creek’ With Buried Treasure In New YA Drama

If you’re in my generation, and this is probably dating myself in a way I’m not going to be happy with, then the late-‘90s were a time in your life when you dreamed of living in a coastal town where your coming-of-age would be filled with beautiful young people (probably those that looked a little too old to be in high school) and incredibly intense discussions written in a way that also made you seem a bit too old to be in high school. Basically, you wanted to live the “Dawson’s Creek” life. Well, Netflix looks to be introducing a new generation to YA coastal drama in the new series “Outer Banks.”

Here’s the synopsis:

Outer Banks is a coming of age story that follows a tight-knit group of local teens (aka the Pogues) in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. When a hurricane kills the power for the summer season, it sets off a chain of illicit events that force the friends to make life-altering decisions. The search for their ringleader’s missing father, forbidden romances, a high-stakes treasure hunt, and the escalating conflict between the Pogues and their rivals turn their summer into one filled with mystery and adventure they’ll never forget.
