'Parasite': NEON Wants You To Join Jared Leto's Viewing Party To Celebrate The Film's Hulu Debut [UPDATED]

If you’re a regular reader of this website, odds are you’ve seen Bong Joon Ho’sParasite” at least once, and more likely, multiple times. However, we can almost guarantee that you’ve never watched “Parasite” with Jared Leto. And if the opportunity to watch any film alongside Leto is available, you must rearrange your entire life to accommodate.

Thanks to NEON, the distributor of the Oscar-winning feature, to celebrate the release of “Parasite” on Hulu, Jared Leto is going to do a watchalong as part of his #JaredLetoCinemaClub. And if you know anything about Leto, you know that the musician-actor-meditator is likely going to have a lot to say about Director Bong’s masterpiece.

NEON shared the news by tweeting, “Join @JaredLeto tonight at 5PM PST for the #JaredLetoCinemaClub PARASITE viewing party. Ramdon required, socks optional.”

Now, you may be wondering, “What does Jared Leto have to do with ‘Parasite?’” Well, you wouldn’t be alone. Many on social media are a bit confused by the correlation. However, given that Leto has turned into one of the more bizarre figures in Hollywood (he’s the guy that didn’t hear about the COVID-19 pandemic because he was away on a two-week silent meditation retreat, and let’s not forget his “Suicide Squad” antics), do you really need an explicit reason? Sure, he’s polarizing, with many writing him off as some sort of aloof, arrogant artist, but he’s endlessly entertaining with his musings.

Plus, worst-case scenario, Leto’s thoughts on the film are silly and/or supremely uninteresting, but you still get a chance to rewatch what many believe is the best film of the last year. So, it’s a bit of a win-win situation, right?

NEON created a special one-sheet for the event, which you can see below.

UPDATE: NEON apparently thought twice about the idea and deleted the tweet announcing the event. Hmmmm. Maybe Leto watching “Parasite” is too weird even for the distributor?
