Got a Tip?

Peter Farrelly Says ‘Dumb & Dumber 2’ Will Shoot In September; ‘Movie 43’ Pushed To January 25, 2013

nullIn the works for a while now, and most recently kicking back to life last summer when it was reported that Jim Carrey was eyeballing a sequel to "Dumb & Dumber" as a potential next project, it looks like everything is coalescing for the return of Harry and Lloyd.

Talking with ComingSoon, co-director Peter Farrelly revealed that "Dumb & Dumber 2" will go in front of cameras this fall. "We're getting set to shoot 'Dumb and Dumber 2' in September," he says. "It's the first sequel we've ever done and we've got Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels back." Hooray? There was a time we would've been a bit more excited about this as "Dumb & Dumber" is kind of great in its own way, but the Farrellys have long lost the touch that first made them a comic force to be reckoned with. Thanks to "The Heartbreak Kid," last year's "Hall Pass" and the upcoming dreadful looking "The Three Stooges" we're not exactly holding out hope that revisiting their beloved '90s comedy classic will be a return to form. At any rate, it give the duo a job following what will likely be a disastrous reception for "The Three Stooges."

In related news, the upcoming comedy omnibus that Farrelly is co-producing (though Bobby is not involved), the formerly titled "Movie 43," has been pushed to a January 25, 2013 release according to Box Office Mojo. Originally slated to hit theaters next weekend, with zero marketing, that obviously wasn't happening the winter dead zone likely means this is a bit of turd. Too bad considering it has a batch of folks like Farrelly, Brett Ratner, Elizabeth Banks, Mike Judge, Bob Odenkirk, Steve Baker, Damon Escot and more helming shorts with folks like Emma Stone, Gerard Butler, Kristen Bell, Chloe Moretz, Josh Duhamel, Hugh Jackman, Johnny Knoxville, Elizabeth Banks, Naomi Watts, Kate Winslet, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Richard Gere, Anna Faris, Justin Long, Liev Schreiber, Uma Thurman, Seann William Scott, Kieran Culkin, Leslie Bibb, Jimmy Bennett, Kate Bosworth, Patrick Warburton, Tony Shalhoub, Chris Pratt, Jason Sudeikis, Jack McBrayer, Aasif Mandvi and Bobby Cannavale all starring.

"Movie 43" will square off against Jason Statham and Jennifer Lopez's "Parker" as well as Screen Gems' "Battle Of The Year: The Dream Team" (we have no idea what that is either).
