'Mad Men' Creator Matthew Weiner Returns With The First Announcement Teaser For 'The Romanoffs'

In a dramatic teaser trailer uploaded today, Amazon has finally given us an official release date for the “Mad Men” spin-off “The Romanoffs,” an upcoming American anthology web television series.

While the new trailer doesn’t include any footage from the series, it features the names of the dozens of stars who will appear and it’s an utterly stacked cast. From the list shown, “Mad Men” stars Christina Hendricks and John Slattery will be returning, as well as,  Aaron Eckhart, Diane Lane, Paul Reiser, Isabelle Huppert, Corey Stoll, Andrew Rannells, Jack Huston and Amanda Peet.

If that’s not impressive enough, according to Deadline, other guest stars include Noah Wyle (“Falling Skies“); Kathryn Hahn (“Transparent“); Kerry Bishé (“Halt and Catch Fire”); Jay R. Ferguson (“Mad Men”); Ben Miles (“Collateral”); Mary Kay Place (“Big Love”); Griffin Dunne (“Imposters”); Cara Buono (“Mad Men”); Ron Livingston (“The Conjuring”); Jon Tenney (“Hand of God”); Clea DuVall (“Veep”); Radha Mitchell (Silent Hill); Hugh Skinner (“Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again”); Juan Pablo Castañeda (“The Debt of Maximillian”); Emily Rudd (“Electric Dreams”); Adele Anderson (“Company Business”); Annet Mahendru (“The Americans”); Louise Bourgoin (“I Am a Soldier”); Hera Hilmar (“Two Birds”); and Inès Melab (“Agathe Koltès”).

“The Romanoffs” comes from nine-time Emmy award winner and “Mad Men” creator Matthew Weiner who not only wrote but directed and executive produced the series. The show, which is set around the globe, features eight stories following people who believe themselves to be descendants of the murdered Russian royal family that ruled Russia until 1917.

The Weinstein Company was originally set to produce in association with Amazon Studios, but Amazon decided to move forward without TWC following the allegations of sexual misconduct, rape, and assault against Harvey Weinstein. Shot on location in three continents and seven countries, each “The Romanoffs” story takes place in a new locale with a new cast such as Europe, the Americas, and the Far East.

“The Romanoffs” will be released October 12 on Amazon Prime Video.
