There’s a lot going on in the new trailer for “Scoob!” Sure, there’s the hijinks you expect from Scooby, Shaggy, Velma, Fred, and Daphne, as they investigate a mystery and try to find the evil culprit behind the shenanigans. However, there’s also flashbacks, kidnapping, superheroes, more talking dogs, and a mustache-twirling villain. It appears that this children’s movie is attempting to check all the boxes.
Starring in this reimagining of the classic series are Will Forte, Mark Wahlberg, Jason Isaacs, Gina Rodriguez, Zac Efron, Amanda Seyfried, Kiersey Clemons, Ken Jeong, Tracy Morgan, and Frank Welker as Scooby. That’s one hell of a cast, for sure.
The main reason for all the big names is the scope of “Scoob!” The film serves as an origin story for the young group of kids and their lovable dog companion but also introduces the greater Hanna-Barbera universe that includes characters such as Blue Falcon, Dynomutt, and Dick Dastardly. Watch out, folks, Warner Bros. might be sneaking in a new cinematic universe right before our eyes.
“Scoob!” arrives in theaters on May 15. That is unless there’s some crazy coronavirus update and we see more films other than “No Time to Die” vacate their spring releases. Stay safe, people.
