'Set It Up' Trailer: Finding Love Takes Some Assistance For Zoey Deutch

After the heavy and consistent feud with Cannes Film Festival, Netflix has been a hot topic as of recent – causing many film fanatics to revisit their definition of the “cinematic experience.” Whether they will be presenting their films at Cannes or not – and regardless of public opinion – one thing remains certain: Netflix continues to dominate as one of the largest and most-prominent streaming and distribution services. Their newest romantic comedy “Set It Up” comes from Claire Scanlon in her feature film directorial debut, and tells the story of two over-worked office assistants who attempt to hook their bosses up with each other.

With direction credits on some of the most popular shows in modern television (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine, “Black-ish,” “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” “Modern Family“), Claire Scanlon has found her footing in the comedy scene. Teaming up with scripter Katie Silberman, Scanlon directs her first feature film with a female-forward team; including an original score from Laura Karpman, casting from Meredith Tucker, and production design by Jane Musky. The diverseness continues in front of the camera with a cast that stars Zoey Deutch (“The Disaster Artist,” “Why Him?”), Lucy Liu (“Kill Bill: Vol. 1,” “Charlie’s Angels”), Glen Powell (“Hidden Figures”), and Taye Diggs (“Chicago”).

Here’s the official synopsis:

In the hilarious and subversive romantic comedy SET IT UP, Harper (Zoey Deutch) and Charlie (Glen Powell) are two overworked, underpaid executive assistants beaten down by Manhattan’s rat race. Barely aware of their own deferred dreams, these twentysomethings live to serve a pair of tough bosses (Lucy Liu and Taye Diggs) who whip them into a daily frenzy. Teaming up out of sheer desperation, Harper and Charlie hatch a plan to become secret matchmakers, getting their bosses off their backs by luring them into a fake romance. But what starts out as a brilliant maneuver quickly spirals out of their control as they realize that being the puppet masters isn’t as simple as it seems.

From producers Juliet Berman and Justin Nappi, “Set It Up” will be available to stream on Netflix on June 15th.
