If you’re a fan of horror films, especially slashers, you’re probably familiar with the “Silent Night, Deadly Night” franchise. The Christmas-themed horror franchise debuted in 1984 and spawned four more sequels over the next several years. But Cineverse is here to reboot the film series with a new take on the original.
As seen in the new teaser, “Silent Night, Deadly Night” is getting the remake treatment with a new film arriving later this year. And since it’s being released by Cineverse, the distributor behind “Terrifier 3” and the forthcoming “The Toxic Avenger,” you better believe this one is unrated. The film tells the story of a young man with a traumatic past who takes it upon himself to spread a little holiday… fear. Get it?
The cast includes Rohan Campbell, Ruby Modine, Mark Acheson, David Lawrence Brown, and David Tomlinson. “Silent Night, Deadly Night” is written and directed by Mike P. Nelson. The filmmaker previously directed the horror film, “Wrong Turn.” He also directed a segment in the recent anthology, “V/H/S/85.”
“Silent Night, Deadly Night” is set to arrive in theaters just in time for Christmas on December 12. You can watch the trailer below.
Here’s the synopsis:
A reimagining of the controversial 1984 cult horror classic – When Billy witnesses his parents’ grisly murder on Christmas Eve at the hands of Santa, it ignites a lifelong mission to spread holiday fear. Every Christmas, he dons the jolly red suit and delivers a blood-soaked massacre to feed his twisted sense of justice. This Christmas Eve, Billy wants to know: “Have you been naughty?”
