‘Sinners,’ ‘One Battle After Another,’ ‘Andor,’ ‘Adolescence’ Earn 2026 PGA Awards Nominations

The last of the major guild award nominations have finally been revealed. The 38th Annual PGA Awards recognize the contributions of producers in film and television. This year, they confirmed Best Picture Oscar hopes for “Sinners,” “One Battle After Another,” “Frankentein” and “Sentimental Value.” On the television side, there were few surprises as “The Studio,” “The Pitt,” “Adolescence,” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” all landed key nominations.

The other six Theatrical Film nominees are “F1,” “Bugonia,” “Hamnet,” “Marty Supreme,” “Train Dreams,” and “Weapons.” Potential or expected nominees “Avatar: Fire and Ash,” “Wicked For Good,” and “The Secret Agent” were snubbed.

The PGA nominees have historically not lined up with the Oscar nominees for Best Picture, although 2024 was a rare exception. Last year, PGA nominees “A Real Pain” and “September 5” did not land in Oscar’s top 10. In 2023, “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” and “The Whale” did not earn Best Picture nods. In 2022, “Being the Ricardos” and “Tick, Tick…BOOM!” did not make the Academy Awards cut. In 2021, “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm,” “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” and “One Night in Miami…” were PGA nominees only. In 2020, the last year with a flexible number of Best Picture nominees, saw “Knives Out” earn PGA recognition and miss out on Oscar.

On the television side, there were few surprises outside of “South Park” earning an Episodic Television – Comedy nomination (there is no animated series category), “Death by Lightning” being snubbed in Limited or Anthology Series, and “Alien: Earth” being overlooked in Episodic Television – Drama.

The 2026 PGA Awards will be handed out on February 28.
