The Society of Composers and Lyricists may be a 77-year-old organization, but its awards offshoot, the SCL Awards, is celebrating its 7th year in 2026. The gala celebrates the best in film, television, and interactive music scores, including Original Songs. This year’s nominees saw “Sinners” and “Wicked For Good” with three nominations each, while “Kpop Demon Hunters” earned two nods. On the television, Cristobal Tapia De Veer landed two nominations for “The White Lotus.”
Not only will Ludwig Göransson vie for two awards, but he and “Sinners” director Ryan Coogler will receive the Spirit of Collaboration Award. This SCL honor “recognizes a composer/director partnership that has created a significant and enduring body of work.” Previous winners include Harry Gregson-Williams and Ridley Scott, Robbie Robertson and Martin Scorsese, Thomas Newman and Sam Mendes, Terence Blanchard and Spike Lee, Carter Burwell and the Coen Brothers, as well as Justin Hurwitz and Damien Chazelle.
Kevin Bacon and Emmy-Winning Composer Michael Bacon (aka The Bacon Brothers) will co-host the 7th Annual SCL Awards at Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles on February 6.
