'Superman: Legacy': Skyler Gisondo To Play Jimmy Olsen & Sara Sampaio Brought On As Eve Teschmacher In James Gunn's Film

Typically, I’m not the type of comic book nerd who sits there and says, “The actors in the films must look like the comics! Waaaaahhhhhh!” But holy shit, when a filmmaker nails a casting on seemingly all fronts, like what James Gunn has done for Jimmy Olsen in “Superman: Legacy,” he deserves a commendation.

According to THR, James Gunn has brought on Skyler Gisondo to star as Jimmy Olsen in the forthcoming “Superman: Legacy.” You probably know Gisondo from roles in films such as “Booksmart” and “Vacation.” He’s also part of “The Righteous Gemstones.” He is one of the best young actors working today, who can play that “awe-shucks” kid and come off as sincere. Not only that, but look at him—he’s Jimmy Olsen. There are no two ways around it.

With ‘Legacy’ seemingly following the younger Superman story, with Clark Kent being a reporter at the Daily Planet and pining after Lois Lane, you have to assume Olsen will be in the classic young kid friend of Kent.

But wait, there’s more!

Not only did today bring news about Gisondo, but we also learned Portuguese model, Sara Sampaio, will be joining the cast as supporting character, Eve Teschmacher (via Deadline). In the comics, the character is known, primarily, as a love interest for Lex Luthor (played in the film by Nicholas Hoult). So, you can assume that’s probably the role she’ll have in ‘Legacy.’

Clearly, with the SAG strike coming to an end and production gearing up for an early 2024 beginning, the casting news for “Superman: Legacy” is going to keep coming. And so far, it seems as if Gunn has nailed each one. Let’s just hope it all leads to a good film.
