'The Carpenter's Son': Nicolas Cage, FKA Twigs & More Star In Horror Film Inspired By Jesus' Childhood

Nicolas Cage has a knack for picking interesting films lately. Even if the final product isn’t so great, there’s no denying Cage likes to perform in films that are unique. And his latest, titled ‘The Carpenter’s Son” looks to be no different.

According to Deadline, Nicolas Cage is set to star opposite FKA Twigs, Noah Jupe, and Souheila Yacoub in the upcoming supernatural horror film, “The Carpenter’s Son.” The film, directed by Lotfy Nathan takes inspiration from the Bible and Jesus’ childhood to tell the story of a boy who discovers he has powers after rebelling against his guardian. Jupe is set to play “The Boy,” while Cage and Twigs are set to play “The Carpenter” and “The Mother,” respectively.

Here’s the synopsis:

The Carpenter’s Son tells the dark story of a family hiding out in Roman Egypt. The son, known only as ‘the Boy’, is driven to doubt by another mysterious child and rebels against his guardian, the Carpenter, revealing inherent powers and a fate beyond his comprehension. As he exercises his own power, the Boy and his family become the target of horrors, natural and divine.

That sounds like a hell of a premise, right? And the idea of Cage starring in a horror film based on the life of Jesus sounds almost too good to be true. Let’s hope our hype is warranted and “The Carpenter’s Son” turns out to be yet another quality film from Cage. In addition to Cage, the rest of the cast seems great too. Twigs was great in “Honey Boy,” which also starred Jupe. And Yacoub was wonderful in the recent “Dune: Part Two.”

Obviously, it’s too soon to know a release date, but “The Carpenter’s Son” seems like a project you’re going to want to keep an eye out for.
