'The Munsters' First Look: Rob Zombie Shares A Peek At His Film Adaptation Of The Spooky Sitcom

Rob Zombie is the type of filmmaker that doesn’t just take every project thrown his way. It’s clear, judging by the films he chooses to make, Zombie is a guy that only goes behind the camera to direct things he’s passionate about. Typically, this involves a horror film with lots of sex, violence, and gore. But for his next film, “The Munsters,” Zombie is adapting a beloved sitcom for the big screen. Though, there’s still plenty of those hallmark horror elements.

Earlier this year, Rob Zombie announced that he is directing a film adaptation of “The Munsters,” a sitcom that showed the life of the titular family from Mockingbird Lane. Except this isn’t your typical suburban family. No, the Munsters are actual monsters, though not the murderous kind. There’s Frankenstein’s monster, a vampire, a young werewolf, and more, all trying to live the American dream.

And in honor of production getting underway on “The Munsters,” Zombie went to social media to share a first look at the film and the actors who will be leading the cast. There’s Jeff Daniel Phillips as Herman Munster, Dan Roebuck as Grandpa, and Sheri Moon Zombie as Lily Munster. And if you’re a fan of Rob Zombie films, you’re probably quite familiar with those names, as they’ve all appeared in a variety of his features.

In his post, Zombie wrote, “Since Halloween is rapidly approaching I thought it was the perfect time to MEET THE MUNSTERS! ? Direct from the set in good old Hungary ?? I present Herman, Lily and The Count sitting in front of the newly completed 1313 Mockingbird Lane . ☠️ ?”

It’s unclear when we might see “The Munsters” hit theaters, but there’s no denying the attention to detail that is going into Zombie’s film. It’s obvious the filmmaker has a deep appreciation of the characters and that world, so everything he’s been teasing so far should delight fans of the classic sitcom.
