'Tomb Raider' Starring Alicia Vikander Sets 2018 Release Date

The ever-busy Alicia Vikander, who seems to have a movie coming out every few months, is already planning to stay on our screens well into next year. The Weinstein Company has bumped her period picture “Tulip Fever” into 2017, and the actress has some arthouse projects coming that will likely hit the festival circuit next year, including Wim Wenders‘ “Submergence” and the Vikander-produced “Euphoria.” And for 2018, she’s queued up a blockbuster.

Vikander’s “Tomb Raider” will hit the big screen on March 16, 2018. Roar Uthaug (“The Wave“) will direct the reboot of video-game-based franchise that had Angelina Jolie lead two installments back in the day. And before then, we’ll see the acclaimed actress in tentpole mode with her turn in the upcoming “Jason Bourne,” though it’s probably safe to say she’ll kick more butt as Lara Croft.

No word yet on other details, but with Comic-Con around the corner, perhaps we’ll find out more.
