'Training Day' Gears Up For TV Series Adaptation

Training DayConsidering you can’t throw a rock without hitting a network cop procedural, coupled with Hollywood’s recent rush to turn anything that was a movie into a TV show, I’m a bit surprised this hasn’t happened earlier. Antoine Fuqua‘s Academy Award-winning "Training Day" is headed to the small screen.

Deadline reports that a package for the show is being shopped around to the four major networks, and it has some big talent attached. Will Beall ("Gangster Squad") penned the pilot, Jerry Bruckheimer is producing, and Fuqua himself will direct the first episode. The concept for the new iteration of "Training Day" will follow the LAPD in the present day, but possibly switch things around, with the rookie cop being black instead of white.

I gotta say, it’s not a bad concept for a weekly show, and the twist is a good one. We’ll see who bites and if this thing makes it to a series.
