More "Transformers" means more licensing opportunities which means more toy and related product sales and that’s all about Paramount‘s plans to take the Hasbro property to the next level. As we know, the studio is building a brain trust to oversee a massive expansion of the series that will include sequels, spinoffs and more, but now it looks like a possible origin movie too. Because, duh.
Deadline reports that a project with the working title "Transformers One" is being kicked around. It would take place on the planet Cybertron and it might be animated, but things are so early that it’s not clear if that’s the final plan just yet. The project might fall under the domain of newly hired writers Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari, who spent some time on "Ant-Man," but the word is they’ll be writing a live-action movie as well, so basically, we’ll just have to wait and see.
The duo join the writer’s group headed by Akiva Goldsman and featuring Robert Kirkman ("The Walking Dead"), Art Marcum & Matt Holloway ("Iron Man," "Punisher: War Zone"), Zak Penn ("X2," "Elektra," "The Incredible Hulk," "The Avengers") and Jeff Pinkner ("Lost," "The Amazing Spider-Man 2").

As for Michael Bay, even though he’s previously sworn off the franchise, apparently Paramount wants him back for "Transformers 5" when he’s done with his Benghazi drama "13 Hours."
