“Straight Outta Compton” proved, to the tune of $201 million worldwide, that stories rooted in hip-hop could resonate with the mainstream. Now, another iconic figure in the genre is getting the big-screen treatment in “All Eyez On Me,” which will tell the story of West Coast rap pioneer Tupac Shakur.
Newcomer Demetrius Shipp Jr. steps behind the mic in this movie, which will tell the ultimately tragic story of the artist, whose murder still remains a mystery. Jamal Woolard, who played Biggie Smalls in the biopic “Notorious,” inhabits the character again for this film. Danai Gurira, Kat Graham, Dominic Santana, Keith Robinson, Lauren Cohan and Hill Harper round out the cast for the picture, which will arrive shortly after Tupac Shakur is inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame this spring.
“All Eyez On Me” opens on June 16th.
