Got a Tip?

Vince Vaughn & Owen Wilson Are ‘Interns’ For Shawn Levy

null"Wedding Crashers" fans, listen up. This may be the closest you'll ever get to a sequel to the 2005 movie: Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson are reuniting to star in "Interns" over at Twentieth Century Fox. The script was written by Vaughn himself (he also penned "Couples Retreat") and Shawn Levy looks set to direct and make this his follow-up to "Real Steel."

Vulture reports that "Vaughn and Wilson will play forty-ish company guys who both get laid off in a downsizing. Convinced they’ve gone about managing their careers entirely wrong, they resolve to become interns at a Google-like dotcom and start anew. Suddenly, the two old chums are competing against wily, fresh-faced 22 year olds for advancement."

They also paint a fairly complicated picture of how this film came together, so we'll try and simplify it for you. Levy was set to remake "Frankenstein" but Fox weren't happy with the budget, Vaughn was ready to make "The Insane Laws" at Universal with Jason Bateman but that collapsed because the actor wouldn't cut his fee, and Universal subsequently shelved "Interns" too. Then, with Vaughn and Levy both available, Fox stepped in and picked up the project.

So is this something we should be getting excited about? We're going to say yes, definitely yes. We know Vaughn and Wilson have great chemistry from "Wedding Crashers," and we'll even go as far as to stand up for the much maligned Shawn Levy who does seem to improve with every movie (and "Date Night" had its moments). We like the sound of the plot — it's a solid comedy set-up — and Vulture rightly posits that it has echoes of "Old School." We can't wait to hear who rounds out the supporting cast of 22-year-olds; we'd recommend Daniel Radcliffe to Levy (go watch 'Half Blood Prince' again, he's a natural when it comes to comedy) and reuniting the cast of "The Social Network."
