Watch: 11-Minute Featurette Chronicles The 12-Year Journey Of Making Richard Linklater's 'Boyhood'

Boyhood: Twelve Years on FilmIt has been a pretty remarkable journey for Richard Linklater‘s "Boyhood." Long before it became an indie box office hit, it was not much more than an ambitious curiosity that the filmmaker was steadily, quietly working on for well over a decade. When he finally unveiled the fruits of his labor at Sundance earlier this year, few could’ve predicted even then, among the major buzz from critics, that eleven months later it would be a serious Oscar contender. But the movie has certainly captured the hearts of audiences and those in the industry too, and today comes a reminder of just how the long the road was that Linklater traveled to make this movie.

A lengthy 11-minute featurette has arrived for "Boyhood," chronicling the making of the movie, and unlike your regular EPK material, this one is unique just by the very nature of the production. Featuring behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with the director and cast throughout the years of filming the project, the evolution of everyone involved behind the camera is just as interesting to watch as those in front of camera.

"Boyhood" is available on digital HD today, and hits home video on January 6th.
